I knew before the boys arrived that I would want to make their own baby food, when the time came. Well, I have been making their food for 2 months now and its going great! They love it and I love knowing exactly what's in their food! It is very inexpensive and takes so little time to make such a healthy and nutritious meal! This past month for $7 I was able to buy enough organic fruits and vegetables for 90 days worth of baby food. That's right SEVEN dollars for THREE months of veggies! One sweet potato makes 21 servings of baby food!! Those of you who know me, know that I love saving money, so to be able to provide the best quality foods for a small price makes me soooooo happy!!
Below are a few of the foods I have made!

Apples, Avocados, Sweet Potatoes & Bananas

I started this blog on November 3... does that tell you how busy it's been?? We have added to the list of baby foods at this point, but I haven't updated the photos!
Oh well, maybe I can get caught up on blogging soon!!

My lil Pumpkins

PUMPKINS in PUMPKINS

Fall just might be my favorite season. I love the colors of the trees, the weather, and of course there is Halloween, which is always a fun time in the Bennett house! We took the boys to pick out a pumpkin, took one home and tried it on for size, LITERALLY!

Our first family Vacation

Our first little family weekend vacation to Knoxville, Asheville and Gatlinburg.
It was such a beautiful fall day here on Friday, October 14, that Jay and I decided that we wanted to pack up and go to East TN for the weekend. Before having babies, we would decide at the last minute to take a weekend trip, pack up and be on the road within the hour so we were optimistic that we could do close to the same with the babies. After all, they are little, will sleep most the way and can't take up too much room in the car, right?? Rrrrrright... We decided at 12:30 that we were gonna go and that we wanted to be on the road by 1:30, 2 at the latest. As Jay booked the hotel for that night in Knoxville, I thought I would "throw a few things together" and we would be on our way.  Well,  if you have never packed for 3 month old twins, it goes something like this... 5 outfits per baby per day,  pajamas, sleep sacks, socks, bibs, burp cloths, swaddling blankets, 2 packs of diapers, homemade baby wipes, 8 bottles per day per baby-that's 16 bottles a day, 2 cans of formula, cereal for night time bottles, a pack-n-play, double stroller, 2 car seats, 2 wubbanubs.. and that is just BABY STUFF.. that does not include mine and Jay's stuff!! For us, there were 3 outfits per day (this is a new standard based on the amount of times we are spit-up on a day), hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shoes, socks..oh wait, I forgot socks, Sorry Jay!....camera, laptop, snacks...  I'm worn out just remembering all we took!! So... 3 suitcases and 3 hours later, we were on the road!
Since, Aunt Allison lives in Knoxville, we decided to surprise her! Surprising Allison is very hard.. she finds out everything... So with a little help from her friends (Thanks Mason) and it being a last minute trip, we were able to pull it off! We when we got there, we set the boys outside her door in their carseats and when she opened it, there were her favorite little nephews!! She was completely shocked!! I regret not taking a picture of her face when she saw them, she was almost in tears... after the afternoon we'd had, I'm sure you will understand why a picture was not at the forefront of my thoughts! :) Next time..
Here are a few pictures that we did get...

The Photo Gene

Is it really possible that my baby boys will be 4 months old in only 12 days!!??  Surely not!! Where did the last 4 months go?? When I was pregnant I wished time away so I could meet these precious little ones, and now, I want time to s-l-o-w down! I feel like I blink and they are another week older! How does that happen??
They have changed so much over the last 3 1/2 months, it unbelievable, and I'm trying to capture most, if not all, of it on film! That's right, as far as Parker and Hayes know, I'm the paparazzi! I could take pictures all day of these kids, and sometime I do!! My sisters get a picture sent to them almost every day, and if they don't, I get a text message asking why there's not a "photo of the day".  My iPhone already has 500 photos of the boys and the camera has gone thru 2 memory cards!! A little much? Maybe, but I am determined to show our little guys just how much we love them!
Growing up, my Bebe (my mom's mom) always had a camera right there snapping pictures at the best and sometimes, what I thought were, the worst times....like at Thanksgiving dinner with a mouth full of food, and honestly sometimes it annoyed me to death (sorry, Bebe). BUT, now I realize exactly why she always had her camera on and ready.. she loved us and didn't want to miss a thing! Recently, I wanted to see my baby pictures to compare to my boys and guess where I had to go to find them? That's right, the photo album that Bebe made!! She has kept the walls of her home, albums, and her refrigerator adorned with photos of her grandbabies.  Anyone that knows her, knows just how much she adores her grandchildren and how much she enjoys showing off pictures of us!
Well, I have been struck by the "Bebe photo gene" and I'm not complaining at all! Actually, I'm very grateful to know how much I was loved and that's EXACTLY what I want my boys to know! So, does it really matter that my boys think that their mom has a camera attached to one hand and an iPhone (for picture taking if course and the occasional look at pinterest..lol) in the other? The answer is NO!! Soon enough, they will be annoyed with my picture taking and request that I not take as many, or at least not take any in front of their friends. But, one day, they will be all grown up and want to look back at pictures of when they were little and I will be the happiest little momma ever to dust off the photo albums for a look-see!

*Disclaimer: I know that my parents and the other grandchildren's parents took pictures of us/them... but if we are all very honest, we all knew that no matter where we went, if Bebe was with us, there was no reason to take a camera, because she always had hers!! I love that she caught so many memories on film!! Thank you Bebe for taking so many pictures of me when I was little-you're the best! "I love you more!"

Wow!! Has it really been 7 weeks already??? I guess "time flies when you're having fun!" Fun is definitely the best way to describe the past 7 weeks. Transitioning to motherhood has been a very smooth and enjoyable journey. Honestly, I can't remember what we ever did without them!
We are so blessed to have 2 sweet, loving and healthy babies.. we have had so much fun introducing them to our family, friends and our lives!
Here is what we have been doing these last 7 week...

The first 7 days of their lives, Parker and Hayes, spent in the NICU. We were so blessed to have the best nursing staff and doctors to watch over our little guys. On day 7 they were well enough to allow us to bring our little baby boys home to stay!!
