On Sunday, we found out that our little guys could possibly come home the first of the week, but Hayes had to be at least 4 lbs to leave the NICU .... he was 3lbs 15 oz! (Parker was 5 lbs 7 oz) So, Jay and I fed Hayes every last drop of his feedings on Monday, hoping he would reach the 4lbs mark.. and he did... and even added 1/2 an ounce for good measure!! We were so excited to hear that they would be able to come home together!!
Yesterday, we arrived at the hospital to pick up our little guys!! We went through discharge instructions with the nurse and we were on our way home... with TWO babies!! We put them in their car seats and they looked sooo tiny! They did wonderful on the way home, only a few brief cries, but other than that, thankfully uneventful.
Last night was our first night home and one of the best things about the NICU (other than the wonderful nurses, doctors, and the amazing care our guys received) is "the schedule". Because they were in the NICU for a week, the nurses had both boys on a great schedule for feedings. So, we have continued that and it couldn't have gone better than it did last night. We got up for their feeds every 3 hours and most of the feeds we have had to wake them up!
Today has gone much like yesterday, only adding in a bath and a few pictures by Daddy. Its amazing how many pictures you can take of a sleeping baby and never get tired of looking at them!!
We are so excited to have our babies home!! There are no words to describe the love I have for the both of them! I am completely amazed and in awe of our perfectly wonderfully little family! We have been blessed beyond measure and we are so grateful for the gift of being parents! It has been a long, sometimes rough, road, but I would do it all over again for these little guys!!
Mommy and Daddy love you, Parker and Hayes, and we are so excited to finally have you home!!
