June 25, 2012 was bittersweet... it was our last visit with Tina, our nurse, from Nurses for Newborns.  As a  pediatric discharge planner nurse, I had referred patients to NFN for home safety checks or to help teen moms balance being a mom, school and pregnancy planning.. SO, when they asked us if I wanted a nurse from Nurses from Newborns to come to our home, my initial, internal, response was, "Do they think I can't take care of my babies?"
The NICU nurse could probably see I was a little uncomfortable and started to explain their services. As she talked, I realized that this was to help me and the boys! Still a little reluctant, I said, "Ok".
After we had been home a couple of weeks, we had our first visit with Tina. She explained her services, took demographic info and did assessments on the boys.. basically all I expected. She explained that she would come once a week for a while, then once a month until the boys turned two. A big benefit to having her, at first, was for weight checks;  the boys were so small at birth, the doctor wanted to make sure they were continuing to gain weight. Having a nurse come to the house meant no waiting the doctors office for weight checks once a week and possibly exposing two preemies to sick children.
After a few visits, I realized that Tina was waaay more important to me and my family, than I had thought at first.. She, infact, was invaluable!! She was always there to answer any questions I had about nursing, formula changes, strange poops, coughs, runny noses, fevers, and a ton of other things that most new mommies worry about. She was patient, kind and always reassured me!
When she came for our 12 month visit, she explained that because the boys were doing so well, meeting and exceeding expectations, that it would be her last visit! I think I teared up! Tina had become part of our little family!  We will miss her visits dearly!
Thank you, Tina, for being such a fabulous resource and loving Parker, Hayes and me so much!
We love you!

The Duo Splash Float

This spring, as I was looking forward to summer weather and the pool, I started looking for a pool float that would accommodate both babies.  I looked at all of the large baby department stores and came up empty handed. I scoured the web in hopes of finding one... my search found a random mom blog, like mine, that had a dual float by Duo Splash Floats LLC. It said it was a brand new product that it would be on the market this summer!! I plugged Duo Splash into the search engine and found the owners' email address. I sent her an email and told her how excited I was to see this product! I asked if she would kindly send me a float in exchange for a review. After looking at my blog, she emailed back and said one would be shipped out the end of MAY!!! I was so happy to hear this!! First of all, I was over the moon to find a float that both the babies could be in at the same time. Second, I was going to be the proud owner of one. Third, I was going to get one in exchange for a blog entry, which I loooove doing!!!

This float for two is wonderful for Parker & Hayes. It was super easy to inflate using a small air pump and the good size to carry to and from the pool.  It has two spacious seats that face each other, so the boys are able to play and share their toys. They love the bright colors, 1 2 3s and ABCs, as well as the animal graphics on the float. Being able to have both babies in the same float is so much easier than holding on to two separate floats!

The owner, Tanya, is fabulous! She is prompt to return emails and willing to help answer any questions/concerns regarding the float and safety of her product. If you have questions regarding The Duo Splash, contact Tanya at tanya@duosplashfloats.com.

I'm very pleased to be the owner of The Duo Splash by Duo Splash Floats LLC.
Please visit Duo Splash Floats to order yours TODAY!!

**The safety precautions from Duo Splash Floats LLC: The safety of our children is an absolute must! Please read and follow all warning label instructions. Two adult swimmers should be present at all times when the float is in use with two kids. Kids who are teething may try to bite the float and puncture the float so special care should be taken with children who are teething.

1st Herrin Festa Italiana 2012

We took a little weekend getaway to see Jay's parents. The boys went to their first Memorial Day parade & saw their first outdoor concert, Hunter Hayes, at Herrin Festa Italiana.

Momma and Babies at concert.

10 months

10 months

Parker:  weight: 19 lbs 8 oz, height: 28 1/4 inches
Hayes: weight: 18 lbs 1 oz, height: 28 inches

So, at 10 Months and 2 days, our sweet, once 4 lbs 4 oz, little baby boy, Hayes, started WALKING!!
It's the sweetest thing to see such a tiny little guy wandering around!! Here are some of his FIRST few STEPS!

At 10 months and 23 days, our precious, once 5 lbs 14oz little guy, Parker, took a couple of steps on his own! He is still a much faster crawler than walker.. but he is on his way! It won't be long until he is running all over the place!

My Silly Silly Boys!
We transitioned completely to whole milk this month without a hitch! Honestly, there is not much that the boys haven't tried and love! Here's hoping that won't change...anytime soon!! ;)

My First Mother's Day

My guys showered me with gifts, hugs, kisses and love!! What they don't know is that being their mom is the  GREATEST GIFT of all! There was a time in last few years that I wondered if I would ever know what it was like to be a mom. The Lord knew the desire of my heart and heard all of my prayers. By His grace, He blessed me with the TWO most amazing little boys! I can't even begin to describe the love that gushes from my heart when I look at them!! I am so happy and proud that they call me "MaMa"
